How many types of air source heat pump do we have ?

Usually we say air source heat pump for the heat pumps whose heat source is air , that means they absord heat from air and transfer the heat to water. However, there are different types of air source heat pumps if we classify them based on the application and the different technology used on the heat pumps.


Based on the application, air source heat pumps includes air source heat pump for swimming pool water heating (usually we call it swimming pool heat pump) and air source heat pump for house heating or domestic hot water. Based on the different compressor technology, there are on-off (constant frequency) air source heat pump, DC inverter air source heat pump and EVI air source heat pump which works at minus 25 degree.


What is a heat pump and why we choose it to heat and cool ?


1. The differences between the Swimming pool heat pump and  Air source heat pump for house heating or domestic hot water


The swimming pool heat pump is with titanium heat exchanger in the condenser side.  It is desiged for pool water use, as the pool water is corrosive while the titanium heat exchanger is anti-corrosive. Secondly, the setable water temperature for swimming pool water is max. 40℃, which is lower than that for the domestic hot water air source heat pump or house heating air source heat pump.

The air source heat pump for house heating or domestic hot water is with brazed plate heat exchanger or high eficiency tube in shell heat exchanger in the condenser side.The setable water temperature is max. 60℃, and the commonly setting is 55℃.

2. The differences between the on-off (constant frequency) air source heat pump and DC inverter air source heat pump

The on-off (constant frequency) air source heat pump runs with constant frequency, that means the running frequency is fixed. While the DC inverter air source heat pump can work with variable running frequency. Besides, the minimum working temperature of the constant frequency air source heat pump is -10℃ .


The running frequency of the DC inverter air source heat pump varies according to the ambient temperture or water temperature. After heat pump system starts, it works with high frequency to reach the target water temperature and then work with low frequency to keep the water temperature constant. And it's minimum working temperature is -25℃.





3. The features of EVI air source heat pump

The EVI air source heat pump is specially designed for the cold climate , its compressor is with constant frequeny but with EVI techonoloy which make it able to work down to -25℃. So the minumum working temperature of the EVI heat pump is -25℃. It works efficiently and performs stable in heating even at -15℃.
